The Avos Piano Quartet (formerly Quartetto Avos) was founded in 2007 within the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and is today considered by music critics as one of the greatest expressions of Italian chamber music.
The Quartet immediately imposed itself on the international music scene for the success obtained in the two most important chamber music competitions in Italy (both members of the World Federation of Geneva): in fact, in the same year (2009), it won the International Competition "Vittorio Gui Prize" in Florence and then the Second Prize (with First Prize not assigned) to the International Competition "Premio Trio di Trieste", also obtaining the "Amedeo Baldovino" Award for best performance of a work by  Brahms (Quartetto op. 25) and the Audience Prize, awarded by the newspaper "Il Piccolo di Trieste". In 2010, the Avos Piano Quartet received two of the most coveted national awards provided by the Accademia Chigiana: the "Monte dei Paschi" prize and above all the prestigious "Diploma of Honor". The Quartet has been perfecting itself with some of the most famous Maestros including Dario De Rosa, Renato Zanettovich, Maureen Jones, Enrico Bronzi, Felix Ayo, Alfonso Ghedin, Rocco Filippini and the Alban Berg Quartet.
Despite only five years of activity, the quartet has already performed in some of the most prestigious Italian concert venues (Teatro "La Fenice" in Venice, Friends of Music in Verona, Teatro "Coccia" in Novara, Università Roma Tre, University of Viterbo, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Teatro Verdi in Pisa, Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Musica Insieme in Bologna, Sala Sinopoli in Rome for the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Sala Petrassi in Rome, Società Fioravanti in Prato, Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto, to mention few) and has made several tours abroad (Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Romania, Japan, amongst others).
During the Japanese Tour the Quartet also held a Chamber Music Seminar at the University of Tottori.
In September 2013 the ensemble was invited, together with the Belcea Quartet, with members of the Ebene Quartet and the Alban Berg Quartet, to the "Les Musicales d'Orient" Festival in France, where the musician's performance was met with warm appreciation by the public and critics.
The Avos Piano Quartet recorded for RAI, Azzurra Music and Brilliant Classic. The discography includes Mozart's two quartets, Brahms' three quartets, Schumann's quartet, C. Saint-Saëns' two quartets, and op. 15 by Fauré, op. 87 by Dvořák Mahler, Schnittke, Walton and Brotons.
