mezzosoprano, Fiona McGown
Trained at the Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de la Musique and the Musikhochschule in Leipzig, the mezzo-soprano Fiona McGown is a young and rising figure on the French opera stage.
In the 2016-2017 season she performed at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées with the Lamoureux Orchestra, at the Théâtre de l'Athénée in the Pierrot lunaire of Schönberg, at the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris in the Magnificat of Vivaldi with the Orchestre de chambre de Paris and at the Festival Européen Jeunes Talents for a masterful concert with Karine Deshayes. Her warm and luminous voice, her curiosity and her enthusiasm for the discovery of new music lead her to sing many repertoires.
Her favourite roles include Cherubino in Mozart's Les Noces de Figaro (Festival of Lyrical Scale), the Second Witch in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (Théâtre de l'Athénée and Opéra royal de Versailles), Juno in Haendel's Sémélé, Hänsel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel (Leipziger Symphony Orchestra) or Fidalma in The Secret Marriage of Cimarosa (Philharmonie de Paris). With Célia Oneto Bensaïd she won the Grand Prix de la ville de Gordes at the 10th International Competition Lied et Mélodie in Gordes. During her already rich musical career, she has had the honour of being taught by Malcom Walker, Elène Golgevit, Regina Werner, Bernarda Fink, Véronique Gens, Christoph Prégardien, Anne Le Bozec, Susan Manoff, Jeff Cohen, Vincent Vittoz, Emmanuelle Cordoliani, Christophe Rousset, Hervé Niquet. In the 2017-2018 season, Fiona recorded, with the Alpha record label, "1623, Larmes de Résurrection" with La Tempête ensemble, presented a recital on Shakespeare at the Cité de la Musique museum with Simon-Pierre Bestion, travelled to India with Le Poème Harmonique and sang - in homage to Bernstein -  "Swing Lenny" with the Orchestre de Paris at the Philharmonie de Paris, to mention some of her most recent artistic activities.
