Winner of the First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Santander Piano Competition "Paloma O'Shea" 2015, First Prize at the Berlin Steinway Competition 2015 and the Medal of the City of Seville, Juan Pérez Floristán is at the young age of 24 a benchmark among the new generations of Spanish and European musicians.
Tireless and a young pianist, in a short time he has made his debut in some of the world's major venues, such as Wigmore Hall in London, Herkulessaal in Munich, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Béla Bartók Hall in Budapest, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Auditorio Nacional of Madrid and Auditori of Barcelona. He has also performed at festivals such as the Ruhr Klavier Festival, the Verbier Festival, the Sommets-Musicaux Festival in Gstaad (Switzerland), the Santander Festival, the Granada Festival, the Beethoven Festival in Warsaw.
With a repertoire that includes more than 30 concerts for piano and orchestra ranging from Mozart to Prokofiev, he is a frequent guest with orchestras like the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the National Spanish Orchestra, the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Orchestra, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, theCastilla y León Symphony Orchestra.
His collaboration with European orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra is quickly turning into a constant in his career, having also planned a studio recording with the BBC Concert Orchestra for 2018. This CD will be added to the already long list of record projects that Juan Pérez Floristán has faced throughout 2017, which includes his solo CD for Naxos (with works by Liszt, Schumann and Beethoven) and two CDs with chamber works by Schubert, Shostakovich and Brahms. However, his first CD goes back to 2012, when he released his first CD, a live recording of his debut concert at the prestigious Ruhr Klavier Festival in Germany.
The list of conductors, soloists and chamber groups with whom he has collaborated includes Jesús López Cobos, David Afkham, Juanjo Mena, Pablo González, Marc Soustrot, Lorenzo Viotti, Pedro Halffter, Andrei Ionita, Dietrich Henschel, Adrien Boisseau (member of the Ébène Quartet), members of the Casals Quartet as Abel and Arnau Tomás, the Fine Arts Quartet, Pablo Barragan.
He owes his training mainly to his mother (María Floristán), Ana Guijarro, Galina Eguiazarova and Eldar Nebolsin, his current mentor. He has also received advice and lessons from international figures such as Daniel Barenboim, Menahem Pressler, Nelson Goerner, and Stephen Kovacevich. Even so, a special mention in his training deserves Elisabeth Leonskaja:meetin and working with her has provided an invaluable help both for his career and his personal and artistic development.
His tours have taken him to practically all of Europe and Latin America, having already performed in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia and Peru. Also, his future commitments include the presentation in the US (Brahms 2nd Concert with the Monterrey Orchestra, California; and a recital at the Miami Piano Festival), a new recital in the Herkulessaal of Munich for the second consecutive year, his debut with the Polish National Radio Orchestra, his debut at La Fenice in Venice and a studio recording with the BBC Concert Orchestra in London.
