Charlotte Testu, musically speaking, moves into the fields of contemporary improvised or baroque music. She studied double bass at the CNSMD in Paris with Jean Paul Celea and generous improvisation with Alain Savouret and Alexandros Markeas. She followed an advanced course at the CNSMD in Lyon with Bernard Cazauran, then deepened her training in historical double bass and violin at the CNSMD in Paris.
She won hte first prize in the 2008 International Double Bass competition, in the contemporary music category.
She created La doublebasse nomade, a solo directed by Nicolas Slawny: music and theatre come together with Charlotte Testu, the musican, becomes an actress. where the double bassist would be the actress. She is continuing this project with Tout contre ma doublebasse and Un cabaret imaginaire to give it even more strength, with the living composers Sylvain Kassap, Jacques Rebotier, Sébastien Béranger, Mirtru Escalona Mijares, François Rossé, Luis Naon... and through the past times.
She joined the Ensemble C Barré in Marseille to advance collectively in these research spaces, as she does in duets, trios or with the Compagnie Espace public. She also plays in orchestras as substitute with the Paris Chamber Orchestra, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, Les Siècles, Insula Orchestra among others.
She teaches at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Tours and at the Centre d'Etudes Supérieures Musique et Danse de Poitou-Charentes.
