Stefano Ranzani graduated with honors in violin in 1979 while continuing his piano and composition studies. After winning an international competition at the Teatro alla Scala, in 1980 he joined the Theatre and Philarmonic Orchestra. Since 1983 he has dedicated himself to conducting. He attended specialization courses with Leonard Bernstein and then with Gianandrea Gavazzeni becoming, after a short time, his assistant.
